British Airways to cut 400 cabin crew jobs

By IANS,

London : British Airways is set to cut 400 senior cabin crew jobs from its 14,000 workforce, the Daily Mail reported Wednesday.

The airline is in talks with the trade union Unite over the plans and has made reassurances that cuts would be made through voluntary redundancies.

The move will affect only those who work solely on its long or short haul routes, but not those who work across both.

British Airways said on Tuesday it had begun a 90-day consultation with Unite.

The cuts are likely to add pressure on parent International Consolidated Airlines Group, which is already facing holiday season strikes at its Iberia business, the Mail added.
