Kolkata: Chhattisgarh Saturday invited automobile major Tata Motors to explore investment possibilities in the state.

Chief Minister Raman Singh, who was in the city to deliver a speech at PanIIT, met Ravi Kant, vice chairman (non executive) of the car maker over launch at the event and made a “special request” to the latter to come to the state.

“Yes, we have made a special request to the Tatas to come, see and explore opportunities for investment that lies in the state (Chhattisgarh),” Raman Singh told reporters on the sidelines.

According to him, investment possibilities will be explored in the automobile sector.

“Of course I have asked them (Tata Motors) to come and see what they can do in the state,” the chief minister added.

He said the state, which has mine and mineral based industries, was currently focusing on sectors like manufacturing, automobile and solar energy among others.

Saturday was the second-day of the PanIIT, a three-day annual meet of the global association of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) alumni.
