UP to develop 27 power transmission sub-stations

Lucknow : The Uttar Pradesh government Tuesday announced that the state’s Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. will develop and augment 27 transmission substations of voltages ranging from 132 KV to 400 KV across the state.

The decision was approved at a meeting of the board of directors of the UPPTCL here.

Officials said a loan of Rs.55.35 crore has been secured from the Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd. for developing and augmenting capacity of nine substations at Shrimau in Hardoi, Mainpuri, Rasda and Sikandarpur in Ballia, Soraon in Allahabad, Atmadpur in Agra, Sector-62 and Sector-45 in Noida, and Badaun.

Besides, a loan of Rs.144.29 crore for developing and capacity augmentation of 18 transmission substations at Lucknow and various other places has also been approved.

Anil K Gupta, principal secretary, energy, said: “In view of additional generation capacity in offing, it is essential to ensure matching capacity addition in transmission sector also, so that the power thus generated is evacuated for distribution.”
