Ravi Shankar was ‘heritage’ ambassador: Dhumal

Shimla : Ravi Shankar influenced western music in a big way and his contribution to classical music would always be remembered, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said Wednesday.

Describing Shankar as a global ambassador of Indian cultural heritage, Dhumal said in a statement: “Pandit-ji had also influenced western music as a large number of western musicians had undergone training under him. His contribution in the field of classical music would be remembered for a long time to come.”

The 92-year-old sitar maestro passed away in a US hospital.
