31st annual Rabita Adab-e-Islami conference held in Kolkata

Kolkata: On the occasion of 31st annual Rabita Adab-e-Islami, a grand Islah-E-Muashra conference was held at Park Circus Maidan in Kolkata December 16, 2012. The annual programme had begun on December 14.

Several Muslim leaders, clerics and Islamic scholars from across the world gathered on the occasion and appealed for peace and unity amongst ummah and the humanity at large.

The President of this Rabita-E-Islami conference and Chairman of the All India Personal Law Board, renowned Islamic Scholar of Nadwatul Ulama Maulana Syed Rabe Islami cited examples from Quran to illustrate and give guidance toward right path needed for peace. “The light of Islam should illuminate everyone’s heart,” he said.

Renowned Islamic scholar and Member of the Parliament, Maulana Asrarul Haque Qasmi believes, “Everyone should unite in understanding the Islamic theology, to reaise the importance of the movement it brought.” It is needed, he added, for trouble free and united society.”

Sultan Ahmed, TMC leader and former Union Minister said, “We have to take special initiative to create social awareness.” Ahmed also expressed his displeasure known at arbitrary detention of Muslim youth throughout country.



Speaker Maulana Dr Sabah Ismail, the organizer and other Muslim personalities including MP Maulana Asrarul Haque Qasmi and Sultan Ahmed participated in the conference.

Imam of Namaz-E-Idayen of Red Road in Kolkata, Qari Fazlur Rahman said, “Good works would definitely beget good remarks,” and added, “We should all gather Islamic knowledge to work in the right direction and remove ills from society.”

Pir of Furfura Sharif of Hooghly and All India Personal Law Board Member, Toha Siddique called upon all Muslims in West Bengal to stand together and avoid any fragmentation. He said, “Many people in state are trying to divide Muslims in the name of Bengali speaking and Urdu Speaking Muslim.” That should be immediately stop, he urged. He warned them of avoiding such traps as it would ultimately harm them.

The chief organiser of the Rabita-E-Adabi conference in Kolkata, Maulana Dr. Sabah Ismail Nadwi said, “This platform is a apolitical and it’s giving the message of peace to our society. Awareness of our society is essential in this time.”



About 50,000 people are believed to have gathered at the Rabita-Adabi-Islami Conference.

The chief functionary of Majlis-e-Tahfuj Shariat of London Isha Mansuri, Professor of Durban University in South Africa, Shaikhul Hadith of Nadwatul Ulama Maulana Salman Hussain Nadwi, Mufti Rashed Qasmi, Maulana Amisur Rahman of Bihar, Shia clerics Athar Abbas Rizwi, Imam of Nakhoda Mosque of Kolkata Qari Md Shafique, Jamiat-E-Ahle Hadith scholar from state, Professor Ainul bari, Veteran Islamic scholar of Kolkata Qari Ismail Zafor, Editor of Urdu Daily Azad Hind Aminuddin Siddiqui, Editor of Bengali Daily Kalom Ahmed Hassan Imran, editor of the Eastern Post Basit Ismail and many other Muslim personalities were present in this grand conference.

At least fifty thousand Muslims participated in this conference at the Park Circus Maidan.
