CM gives cheques to minority girls

Lucknow: Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav distributed cheques to minority girls who have cleared the Class X examination to mark the functions on World Minority Day on Tuesday. The girls were given cheques under the scheme coined as ‘Our Daughter Her Tomorrow’ by the Uttar Pradesh government.

In this scheme, the girl from minority community if she clears Class X examination and her parents income is upto Rs 36000 per annum, she will be given financial assistance of Rs 30000 as one time grant.

“We understand the education standard among the minority girls is not very high and thus we are providing them assistance under this scheme so that they can continue their education,” Akhilesh Yadav stated. He also stated that soon laptops and computers will also be distributed to students and they will also have Urdu software along with English and Hindi.

On the occasion Akhilesh Yadav emphasized on the education of girls as an important thing for the development of the society.

Minister for minority welfare Azam Khan stated that previous government did nothing for minority welfare but things are improving now as the Samajwadi Party government is concerned about the welfare of minorities. But he sought some time to set things in order.

Under the same scheme, CM Akhilesh Yadav had distributed cheques to the minority community girls at Rampur on December 10. Today he distributed cheques in Lucknow. At Rampur he gave cheques to 7492 girls while in Lucknow cheques were given to 2260 girls. Similar programmes were also held in other districts of the state.
