Howrah : Priya Village Roadshow (PVR) Cinemas, which is now eyeing eastern India, Thursday launched its first multiplex here and Sanjeev Bijli said that the company planned to open 70 more screens and invest Rs.120 crore.
“The company has plans to set up 70 more screens across the country by next financial year, investing Rs 120 crore,” Bijli, the PVR Cinemas joint managing director, told reporters.
He was speaking to the media on the occasion of launching of its first multiplex in eastern India in the Howrah district of West Bengal.
“With the launch in Howrah we have a presence in all the four regions of the country,” he added.
With the launch here, PVR has 162 screens in 37 cities across India. The company began its commercial operations in June 1997 with the launch of PVR Anupam in Saket in south Delhi.
“As of now we have plans of setting up a five-screen multiplex in Jessore Road area of the city. And in eastern India we are looking at the cities of Ranchi and Dhanbad in Jharkhand and in a few other cities,” Bijli said.
