Halder meets chief of NDFB anti-talk faction

By IANS,

Guwahati : The central government’s proposed peace process with the anti-talk faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) appears to be headed in the right direction.

This became evident Friday when the government’s peace interlocutor for the northeast, P.C. Halder, met the outfit’s chief Ranjan Daimary inside a prison here.

This is the second time the former Intelligence Bureau chief has met Daimary. The first meeting in Guwahati central jail took place Dec 13 last year.

“Everything is going in the positive direction. But it would not be right on my part to disclose anything at this moment,” Halder told reporters after the meeting that lasted over one hour.

Daimary alias D.R. Nabla was handed over to India by Bangladesh Rifles near the border in Meghalaya in May 2010. Daimary has languished in various jails in Assam since then.
