New Delhi : Preliminary forensic reports in the blast gutting an Israel embassy car showed traces of potassium chlorate and nitrate in the explosive material, said officials Wednesday.
The preliminary forensic report has been submitted to the Delhi Police’s Special Cell, probing the blast
The report of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), traces potassium chlorate and nitrate particles used in the explosive materials, said an official involved in the investigation team.
The official further informed that the explosive material was not more than 300 grams.
Forensic experts are still puzzling over the nature of the explosive material and its triggering mechanism, the officials said, as its explosion shattered the window panes of nearby bungalows but the metal of the vehicle was not ripped off.
Police believe that there is a high possibility of the attack being overseen by a foreign terror network carried out with local support, mainly because a stick-on magnetic bomb has never been used in India before.
Meanwhile, a nine-member Israel embassy team visited the Special Cell office in south Delhi’s Lodhi Colony this afternoon and inspected the car in which the Israeli embassy official Tal Yehoshua-Koren was travelling.
They also inspected another car which was damaged in the incident.
