Lack of direct flights hits tourist flow

By IANS,

Kolkata : Lack of direct flights from eastern India to Europe is the main hurdle for people in the region from vacationing in Europe, a Switzerland Tourism official Thursday said.

“The eastern India markets are growing very fast. There is a lot of potential. Eastern India so far has been focusing on going to the Fareast. Now they are ready for Europe,” deputy director Ritu Sharma said.

“The sad part is there are not many direct flights, that’s keeping eastern Indian markets away from Europe,” she said.
