Odisha artist makes ailing Big B’s sand image

By IANS,

Bhubaneswar : Sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik Sunday used 10 tonnes of sand to create an image of megastar Amitabh Bachchan on Odisha’s Puri beach to wish the ailing actor a speedy recovery.

The 69-year-old actor underwent abdominal surgeries Feb 11 at the Seven Hills Hospital at Mumbai. He was to be discharged Feb 13, but new complications forced doctors to keep him under observation.

Pattnaik said he created a face of the Big-B along with a film reel on the sand. The image carried the message: “Get well soon”.

“Puri is famous for Lord Jagannath. I have created the sculpture and prayed to god for the speedy recovery of the Big B,” Pattnaik told IANS.

“We have used 10 tonnes of sand and devoted about six hours to complete this sculpture with the help of the students of my sand art institute,” he said. The beach town of Puri is 56 km from here.
