Pakistan set to demolish Osama’s hideout?

By IANS,

Islamabad : Heavy machinery was brought to Pakistan’s Abbotabad city Saturday in an indication that the compound, once served as slain Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden’s hideout, might be demolished, media reports said.

The roads leading to the compound have been sealed and the entry of general public in the close-by areas has been prohibited, the Dawn News said, adding the reason behind demolishing the hideout could not be known.

On Jan 10, the British newspaper The Sun reported the house where Osama was hiding, before being killed by US commandos, will be blown up and bulldozed.

“We will hit it like an enemy fort. But first we must erase everything related to bin Laden from our country,” the Daily Sun had quoted Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rehman Malik as saying.

Bin Laden, the world’s most wanted terrorist who orchestrated the 9/11 attack on the US through his Al-Qaeda outfit, was killed in Abbottabad near the Pakistan capital by US special forces, ending one of the world’s biggest and costliest manhunts.
