Chandigarh : Harayana’s vigilance bureau has arrested a chartered accountant (CA) for accepting a bribe of Rs.100,000 from an electricity consumer in lieu of reducing the penalty of his electricity bill, a bureau spokesman said Sunday.
The CA, Randhir Singh, posted with the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) at Jind, 200 km from Chandigarh, was arrested after being caught red-handed while accepting the bribe for reducing the penalty of Rama Nand.
The spokesman said that a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the CA at the bureau’s police station in Hisar.
