Maoist leader held in Odisha

Bhubaneswar : A Maoist leader allegedly involved in several attacks, including one on the site of a construction company last year, was arrested in Odisha’s Sambalpur district Monday, officials said.

Roshan Munda, who hails from Chaibasa area of neighbouring Jharkhand, was nabbed from a forest near Kishinda village during a combing operation by a joint team of the Central Reserve Police force (CRPF) and the state police’s Special Operations Group (SOG), a district police official told IANS.

Munda was involved in a series of crimes, including a raid on a site of a construction company at Munder village October last year, when the rebels torched at least ten vehicles of the company.

Munda has been involved in Maoist activities since 2009 and was active in both Odisha and Jharkhand, the official said.

Sambalpur is about 320 km from Bhubaneswar.
