Islamabad : Fifteen Pakistani troopers kidnapped by the Taliban last month have been killed, a media report said Thursday.
They were abducted Dec 23 after Taliban militants launched a pre-dawn attack on their base in Mullazai Fort in Tank district near the South Waziristan tribal region.
Purported Taliban spokesman Ihsanullah Ihsan has confirmed that they were killed a few days ago, Xinhua quoted the local Pashto language channel Khyber TV as saying.
The bodies of the slain members of the Frontier Constabulary were disposed of in North Waziristan, bordering Afghanistan, he claimed.
There is, however, no official confirmation of the report.
The Taliban had demanded the release of their jailed associates for exchange of the kidnapped troopers.
Ihsan has also warned of more attacks on the security forces in the coming days for not heeding to their demands.
