Srinagar : A Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) module working to recruit youths as its militant cadres has been busted, Jammu and Kashmir Police claimed Thursday.
According to a statement, Anantnag police busted the module that was working at the behest of an LeT commander of Pulwama and Kulgam districts. It was instrumental in recruiting new youths to boost the depleting militant cadres and was also used for arranging transport and weapons for militants, the statement said.
Police swung into action after the arrest of a youth, Younis Ahmad Makroo, who revealed during his questioning that he along with other members of this module had arranged weapons and delivered them to the militants operating in Tral town.
“On his disclosure, all his five associates were arrested,” the state police statement said.
“The module was involved in arranging and transporting weapons and facilitating the movement of militants by providing them information regarding the movements of the security forces in the area”, the statement said.
