Bangalore: The sinister plan and act of activists of Ram Sene to create communal tension on the eve of New Year has been exposed with the arrest of six activists of the Hindu extremist group in connection with the hoisting of Pakistan flag in Bijapur of Karnataka on 1st January 2012.
The Bijapur police on 4th January announced the arrest of six youths — all members of the right wing Hindu group Sree Ram Sene — for hoisting the Pak flag at the office of the tahsildar of Sindhagi town in Bijapur district on January 1, says a news report in Indian Express.
Superintendent of Police, Bijapur, D C Rajappa, announced the arrests and said it was carried out by a group of young college students affiliated to Sree Ram Sene. The group was trying to create communal trouble in order to expand its support base.
The six have been identified as Rakesh Sidaramaiah Math (19), Mallanagouda Vijaykumar Patil (18), Parashuram Ashok Waghmore (20), Rohit Eshwar Navi (18), Sunil Madiwalappa Agasar (18) and Anilkumar Sriram Solankar (18), all from Sindhagi. The seventh accused, Arun Waghmore, is said to be on the run.
The hoisting of the flag had caused tension in Sidhagi twon and next day (2nd Jan) extremist Hindu groups such as the Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Sree Ram Sene itself had called for a shutdown in protest against the hoisting of Pak flag.
