Controversy over Congress praising Modi is getting hot

By Ilyaskhan Pathan,

Ahmedabad: The controversy over Gujarat Congress pamphlet and newspaper ad praising BJP chief minister Narendra Modi is not fading out soon with BJP trying to capture the mood of the people while the reaction from the Congress is confusing.

Alleging the Congress of repeating the same mistake, BJP in its press release said, “Gujarat Congress tried to get benefit of Modi’s face repetitively during the election in the past but the people of Gujarat are aware of Congress’s politics.”

BJP also said that by accepting the fact of Modi’s achievement Congress is trying to save themselves from the public wrath.

Reacting to the BJP’s press release, Congress reiterated its old stand. However, media reports say that All India Congress Committee (AICC), the highest decision making body of the party, has sought a clarification from the Gujarat state Congress.

Manish Doshi, spokesperson of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) said, “Modi has been denied visa by the twenty countries and he has been kept away from the Assembly election campaign of the five states.”

He also said that even the NDA allies like TDP, Janata Dal-U and Biju Janata Dal don’t want Modi to campaign in their respective states.

In this election year, the main opposition Congress committed self goal while distributing a 4-page pamphlet in some parts of Gujarat and publishing them in some newspapers on the Republic Day.

Of the 4 pages, two consists of commercial advertisement while other two state that Gujarat is a progressive state since its birth. Congress also mentioned the contribution of all the Chief Ministers of Gujarat who have contributed in the development including Modi. Thus Congress assumes it tried to eschew the hype that all the development and progress in Gujarat is because of Narender Modi.

The pamphlet says Modi is a “master organizer” and “astute election strategist”.

The assembly election in Gujarat is just a year away.
