Hyderabad: Sons of an Andhra Pradesh state assembly member and a municipal commissioner were arrested while allegedly taking drugs in Uppal on the outskirts of Hyderabad, police said.

B. Sunil Kumar and Abhijit were arrested late Thursday night at Uppal municipal grounds in Cyberabad police commissionerate.

Sunil Kumar is the son of opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) legislator Satyawati Rathod, who represents Dornakal assembly constituency in Warangal district, while Abhijit is the son of Karimnagar municipal commissioner L.B. Ravindra Kumar.

A police team reached the municipal ground on receiving information that drugs were being used at the place. On seeing the police, the duo tried to escape but were chased and caught. Police also seized drugs from their possession.

Last year some film personalities and foreigners were arrested on drug charges here.
