Hyderabad: Dalit Mahasabha an umbrella organization of several Dalit groups demanded dismissal of AP Congress chief Botcha Satyanarayana, for a fair trial in Lakshmipet massacre of Dalits. On June 12, six persons were killed and nearly fifty were injured in Lakshmipet village of Vangara Mandal in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh when a violent crowd attacked Dalit houses in the village.
Dalit Mahasabha released a fact finding report of the team which visited the village aftermath of the massacre, the report clearly indicted Pradesh Congress chief Botcha Satyanarayana for conspiring and aiding the attacks.
Those attacks on Dalit’s were allegedly broke out over a 250 acre of land in Madduvalasa reservoir with other rival BC caste Kappu to which Mr. Satyanarayana belongs.
General Secretary of Dalit Mahasabha Katti Padma Rao demanded CBI enquiry into the killings, as he alleged that senior congress leaders including PCC chief is trying to shield the accused.
He said, “The government should take steps to arrest the APCC president Mr. Botcha and his relatives as they were behind the attack on Dalits. Mr. Satyanarayana is behaving like a proxy Chief Minister in the three north coastal Andhra districts controlling the administration as well as businesses, including liquor syndicates.” He also added “One more reason to arrest Satyanarayana is, as local Congress leaders who were involved in attacks and later arrested by the police received support from top leaders.”
Baladeer Gadar leader of Dalit Mahasabha said that those murders of Dalits were politically-sponsored to gain political mileage. He demanded that chief minster should be made party to the investigation as he had hesitated in ordering a thorough enquiry in this case. “It was a State sponsored attack and perpetrators of violence should be dealt firmly,” he said.
Mr. Padma Rao also informed that Dalit Mahasabha will organize a ‘Chalo Hyderabad rally’ to build up pressure on the govt. for a CBI enquiry.
