Trinamool still silent on vice president

By IANS,

New Delhi : Hours before UPA meet on vice presidential election Saturday, Railway Minister Mukul Roy said the Trinamool Congress will clarify its stand “at an appropriate moment”.

“Our party will speak at an appropriate moment… There is no need for an individual to speak,” said Roy.

Roy is likely to represent Trinamool at the United Progressive Alliance meet to be held at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s official residence.

Trinamool chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is opposed to Vice President Hamid Ansari, the front runner as the UPA nominee for the Aug 7 vice presidential election.

Banerjee’s opposition to UPA’s presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee has already created tension within the Congress-led alliance.
