Islamabad : Abdul Qadir Gilani, son of former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, has won the by-election to a seat that fell vacant following his father’s disqualification, a media report said Friday.
Pakistan Peoples Party candidate Abdul Qadir Gilani won the by-election in NA-151, reported Geo News.
According to unofficial results, Gilani narrowly defeated independent candidate Shaukat Hayat Bosan by securing 64,628 votes.
Yousuf Raza Gilani was ousted from power by the Supreme Court after he refused to write a letter to Swiss authorities asking them to re-open a graft case against President Asif Ali Zardari. Raja Pervez Ashraf has succeeded Gilani as the new premier.
