Cop, engineers, accountant caught taking bribes

Jaipur: A police inspector, two engineers and an accountant were arrested Saturday for taking bribes in two separate incidents in Rajasthan, police said.

The officials were caught red-handed by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while receiving the bribe money in the state’s Banwara and Pali districts, they added.

“A contractor had approached the ACB recently, alleging that assistant engineer Natwar Lal, junior engineer Magan Lal and accountant Sanjay Jain were demanding Rs.35,000 from him for releasing payment for some construction work at Kushalgarh town in Banswara,” said ACB’s Inspector General Umesh Mishra.

The three officials worked at the Kushalgarh municipality office.

Mishra said that an ACB team laid a trap on the basis of the complaint.

“The three officers called the contractor at the municipality office. While they were taking the bribe noney, the ACB team caught them red-handed and arrested them,” said the officer.

In the other case, the ACB arrested police inspector Hari Om, deputed at Anandpur police station in Pali district, while he was receiving a bribe from an accused.

“Hari Om was demanding bribe from Baldev Ram, who had a case of fraud registered against him at the police station. The police inspector assured Baldev that if he paid Rs.15,000, he would clear him of all the charges. We caught Hari Om red-handed taking the bribe,” said the officer.
