Police bust bike-lifter gang in Gurgaon

Gurgaon : The Special Cell of Gurgaon police arrested four people, including two final year college students, on charges of lifting two-wheelers, police said Friday.

The police also recovered 65 two-wheelers from them. This is the biggest recovery ever made by Gurgaon police.

“We have taken them on two days’ remand. We are sure that more bikes would be recovered after grilling them,” Sanjeev Balhara, Special Cell chief told IANS.

The accused started lifting bikes to entertain their girlfriends, Balhara said.

Those arrested have been identified as Amit from Patauda in Jhajjar district (Haryana), Ashish from Delhi’s Palam area, Virender of Jaitpur in Rewari district (Haryana) and Pradeep from Fazilpur of Gurgaon district (Haryana). All accused are below the age of 22 years.

Amit and Virender were final year students at DSD government college here. Ashish’s father is a head constable in Delhi Police.

According to police, the accused used to sell the stolen bikes for Rs.5,000-7,000.

Police have also detained Lokesh from Jhajjar district for purchasing the stolen bikes.
