Beijing : Chinese President Hu Jintao Friday discussed Iran’s nuclear issue with his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Beijing.
Hu said China will continue to play a constructive role in settling the issue through peaceful means. He urged Iran to enhance dialogue with the UN nuclear watchdog IAEA.
The growing relationship between Iran and China has brought “substantial benefits” to the peoples of the two countries, People’s Daily quoted Hu as saying.
The Iranian president said his country hopes to ease tension with the West on the issue through negotiations.
Ahmadinejad is currently on an official visit to China. He attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit June 6-7.
