Eight Chinese nationals arrested in Himachal

Shimla : Eight Chinese nationals working illegally in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district have been arrested, police said Wednesday.

The Chinese nationals, who were on tourist visa were arrested Tuesday evening. They were illegally working as carpenters and painters in Chauntra town in Mandi district, some 300 km from here, Superintendent of Police Abhishek Dullar told IANS.

He said that some Rs.30 lakhs cash and sim cards were seized from them.

“They were staying there individually for quite sometime. Their credentials are under investigation as they have not registered themselves with the foreigner registration office,” Dullar added.

Chauntra village is located on Mandi-Pathankot highway close to Kangra district, which is a large settlement of Tibetan exiles.
