New Delhi : A 29-year-old man was arrested here for making a hoax bomb call in a bid to delay a flight for which he had got delayed, police said Monday.
Ravindra Khanna, a resident of Srinath Nagar in Pune in Maharashtra, made a call to police control room around 7.30 p.m. Sunday, a police officer said.
He said that he heard some people talking about a bomb in SpiceJet flight number SG-148 that was about to take off from Delhi to Ahmedabad around 7.45 p.m.
“After a through check on the flight he call was found to be a hoax. Police traced Khanna’s mobile number which was used to make the call and arrested him,” said the officer.
Khanna, who works as an event promoter, tried to mislead police by saying that he had lost his cell phone at the airport and someone might have misused it, said the officer.
“Later, he revealed that he was supposed to fly to Ahmedabad, but the airline officials did not allow him to board the plane as he was late,” said the official.
He was arrested and presented in a court Monday.
