NGO formed in Chennai to inform minorities about govt. welfare schemes

Chennai: As an initiative for creating educational and social awareness and inform minorities about the government welfare schemes an NGO, “Indian Minorities’ Welfare Trust” has been established in Chennai.

A good number of Muslim students are not aware of benefit schemes of minorities especially that of Muslims announced either by Central Government or State Governments such as Prime Minister 15 programme. Largest part of Muslims is apparently seen not in the habit of reading newspapers especially the announcements pertaining to educational benefits and development schemes by way of scholarships. Further great many students are under impression that career such as engineering, medical and business management alone would upraise their future, payback fittingly. Therefore, there is heavy rush and competition, and institutions offering such courses are costly. Shockingly this year a number of students have committed suicides due to disappointment, distress, and depression arising from magnitude of competition and gravity of course syllabi.

The NGO has been formed in this background and will work on the related issues.
