New York : The UN agency mandated to promote gender equality will give $10.5 million in grants to organisations working for women’s empowerment.
Women in Africa, Asia, the Pacific, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe and Central Asia will be benefited.
Grants will start at $200,000 for initiatives that “make tangible improvements in the lives of women and girls, from enabling women candidates to run for office, to managing resources to support themselves and their families,” the UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women said in a statement Friday.
Since its creation in 2009, the fund has invested $43 million in 40 countries around the world for projects working for gender equality.
