New Delhi : Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Rajiv Shukla said Tuesday the party was not happy with its performance in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.
“We are not happy with the results. It is not on expected lines but it is not a dismal performance either. We have done better than the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party),” Shukla told news channel NDTV 24×7.
“We were expecting at least 70 to 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh,” he added.
Shukla slammed the BJP for criticising the Congress and Rahul Gandhi, claiming that his party’s vote percentage had increased in Uttar Pradesh while the party had given a tough fight to the BJP in Punjab.
Not ruling out a possible alliance with the Samajwadi Party, Shukla said that the decision would be taken by the Congress high command.
“Once the results are out, the party high command will decide this, keeping in mind the interests of the people of Uttar Pradesh,” he said.
