New Delhi : The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has won the national award for the best promotional film in the non-feature film category, a Delhi Metro official said Wednesday.
“Metro bagged the Rajat Kamal award for a 30-minute documentary – “The Dream Fulfilled: Memories of the Engineering Challenges”, which highlights the technical difficulties and challenges faced by the engineers during the construction of Delhi Metro Phase II,” Delhi Metro spokesperson Anuj Dayal said.
The DMRC Phase II which covers 125 km, was constructed in four-and-half years.
“The film showcases various challenges that the DMRC team faced during the construction of Phase II. For example, the construction of a bridge with a 100 metre span at Okhla over railway tracks, the viaduct over Dhaula Kuan, the Zamrudpur mishap and its eventual timely completion and the construction of a steel-made station at Chhattarpur,” Dayal said.
The award will be presented by President Pratibha Patil in May.
“The film has used three dimensional (3D) graphics to depict the various engineering challenges that the DMRC confronted during the construction work, so people with non-engineering backgrounds would also easily understand,” Dayal added.
Delhi Metro makes over 2,400 trips a day, covering about 70,000 km and carrying around 1.8 million passengers on working days.
