New Delhi: Every body, including political pundits in Uttar Pradesh, were taken by surprise when the Congress party lost all the seats in Rae Bareli, represented in the Lok Sabha by party president Sonia Gandhi.
Even in the nearby district of Amethi, Rahul’s constituency, the party could win two out of the five seats. In the adjoining Sultanpur, too, the party lost five assembly seats.
Rajesh Dixit- the emerging face of Samajwadi Party
But those who know the ground realities of that region, know it quite well that the unprecedented disaster by the Congress party and the brilliant performance by the Samajwadi Party was the result of campaigning on the ground by several party leaders.
The person who can be credited with this kind of brilliant performance by the SP is Rajesh Dixit, the National Secretary of SP. Dixit had camped for several weeks in Rae Bareli and the adjoining areas just to campaign for his party on the ground.
Dixit, a young and dynamic leader of SP, maintains a low profile but has been credited with mobilizing Muslim votes in favor of SP in western and central UP.
Leaders in UP consider him the emerging face of Samajwadi Party who is also close to Akhilesh Yadav, the young face of the party which surprised every body with the landslide mandate in Uttar Pradesh.
The SP leader, who has been associated with SP since 15 years, brushes aside any credit for the SP landslide in Rae Bareli, giving credit to the SP supremo Mulayam Singh Singh, Akhilesh Yadav and other ground workers
