Congo buries 200 victims of serial explosions

By IANS,

Brazzaville : The Republic of Congo Sunday buried 200 victims of the March 4 serial explosions induced by a fire at an arms depot in the Central African country’s capital Brazzaville.

The burial meets all the conditions of a state funeral to be attended by Congolese President Denis Sassou N’Guesso, spokesperson for the government Bienvenu Okiemy announced over the official Radio Congo station.

The government says more than 200 people died and at least 1, 500 were injured in the blasts, in addition to 5,000 people rendered homeless, reported Xinhua.

An electrical short circuit caused the detonation at the depot in the military barracks, which will be resettled miles away from Brazzaville within months, according to official sources.
