New Delhi : The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will host the five-day 60th All India Police Games (AIPG) here in the capital.
The championship, organised under the aegis of the All India Police Sports Control Board (AIPSCB), will be held March 26-30. The games will be inaugurated by Home Minister P. Chidambaram Monday.
“Around 1,500 to 1,600 participants from 31 teams, including 24 teams of state police and seven from paramilitary forces, will participate in the five games — wrestling, boxing, weightlifting, judo and gymnastics,” said CISF Director General Rajiv.
Five states – Sikkim, Bihar, Kerala, Arunanchal Pradesh and Tripura – are not participating in the games.
Replying to a question over doping tests facility during AIPG, Rajiv said around 200 to 250 officials from National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) and other sports authorities will organise the whole event as per the standards of international games.
After Commonwealth Games, it will be the first time two indoor stadiums — the Indira Gandhi stadium and the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium — will be used as venue for these games.
