Panaji : In the second such case within a year, a police officer in Goa has been booked for dowry harassment.
Police sub-inspector Terence Vaz was booked Saturday for harassing his wife Evelyn to give dowry, police inspector Calangute Santosh Dessai said.
“The complaint has been filed under Section 498 (A) of the Indian Penal Code. They have been married for five years. The complainant has said that he had also beaten her up repeatedly,” Dessai said.
He further said that Vaz had been called to the police station for questioning after the registration of the complaint.
In June last year, a police sub-inspector Sanjiv Khandeparkar, as well as a Deputy Superintendent of Police Eknath Gaude had been booked for dowry harassment.
