Gherao of Parliament for immediate release of Kazmi

By Special Correspondent,

Lucknow: A large number of Muslim organizations joined hands and would gherao Parliament on March 26 demanding that community members detained on false terror charges be released, said eminent cleric Maulana Kalbe Jawwad, while addressing a protest rally at Shaheed Smarak on Friday.

Jawwad said they had a meeting with a number of Muslim organisations in Delhi and all agreed for the purpose. “We will hold demonstration in front of Parliament to press for our demands. It’s not just senior journalist Syed Mohammed Ahmed Kazmi, who has been detained on false charges, there are several other Muslims who have been languishing behind the bars for years even with no proofs against them,” he claimed.

He also claimed that Kazmi was tortured by cops in custody and was being forced to ‘confess’ to his involvement in the Israeli diplomat car blast case.

“It was a handiwork of US and Israel to defame Muslims. Union Home Minister P Chidambaram has done all this to please Israel and its intelligence unit. This will affect the Congress party as it be uprooted in forthcoming Lok Sabha elections,” he added.

He said MA Kazmi was innocent and should be released at the earliest or else they would launch massive protests across the country.

Imam, Tile Wali Masjid, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said they were demanding justice for those Muslims who had been detained on false terror charges.

Meanwhile, scores of people with banners and posters took out a protest march demanding release of Kazmi. People belonging to Shia and Sunni sects took out the procession from Bara Imambara.
