Oscar Fernandes assures AMUCC of fast action on AMU Kishanganj deadlock

By TCN News,

New Delhi: Within a week after the AMUCC (Aligarh Muslim University Coordination Committee) met with Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to push ahead the work of proposed AMU Centre in Kishanganj, the group got a call from Congress Secretary Oscar Fernandes for meeting at the Congress headquarters on 24 Akbar Road in New Delhi.

AMUCC, a Delhi-based non-political group working as a facilitator for the proposed AMU Centre in Kishanganj, met with Fernandes on 29th March. The group had met Mrs Gandhi on 23rd March. Fernandes was assisting Mrs Gandhi in the meeting with AMUCC last week, and he had noted down the issues related to AMU Kishanganj on the instruction of Mrs Gandhi.

AMUCC meets Congress leader Oscar Fernandes over AMU Kishanganj issue

Known for his friendly behaviour, Oscar Fernandes welcomed the AMUCC group Thursday night at Congress office. Oscar who himself is aware about the issues related to AMU Kishanganj keenly listened to the AMUCC Convenor Mohammad Aslam, PRO Mohammad Mudassir Alam, and other members namely, Minnat Rahmani, Mansoor Alam, Tauqueer Alam (MSW), Matin Iqbal, Tauqir Alam (JNU) and Danish Anwar.

Mohammad Aslam went heavily against the Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal for giving false statement on AMU Kishanganj. The MHRD office has put the AMU Kishanganj matter on hold due to negligence and step attitude, which is totally unfair, said Mohammad Aslam. The AMUCC Convenor also questioned the intention of Kapil Sibal about AMU Centre in Kishanganj. He said, the same Kapil Sibal as Minister of HRD has inaugurated the Murshidabad (West Bengal) and Mallapuram (Kerala) centres of AMU, but why he is behaving differently for AMU centre in Kishanganj.

Oscar assured AMUCC delegation that he will personally talk to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and make him aware of the deadlock going on regarding the proposed centre in Kishanganj. The senior leader of Congress has also told that he will meet Kapil Sibal for pushing forward the AMU’s file to President of India for approval to the Centre in Kishanganj.

The AMUCC delegates were satisfied with the assurance of Oscar. However, till anything officially done by the Central Government especially the Ministry of HRD and Finance, it will be too early to predict anything. They are hopeful that Sonia Gandhi will keep her promise done to AMUCC team and people of Seemanchal in Bihar by resolving the issue of AMU Centre in Kishanganj on immediate basis.
