By TCN News,

Mumbai: A high-level delegation of Muslim politicians, representatives of religious organizations and educational institutions, in the leadership of Dr Zaheer Qazi, president of Anjuman Islam, met Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chauhan at his office here on 9th May 2012. The delegation apprised the CM of the threats from officials of Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC) to demolish the historic educational institutions of Anjuman Islam in the garb of some rules and regulations.

The Muslim leaders told Maharashtra CM Chauhan that for last one year, higher officers of BMC, in connivance with anti-social elements and in the garb of rules and regulations, have been trying to damage Anjuman Islam, the precious institution of the community. Most of Anjuman’s institutions are 50 to 100 years old. Rules of municipality have been changing time to time. In such situation, educational institutions can have some small things that may be against the ever-changing rules, but citing such small issues, BMC officers have been threating to demolish Anjuman’s institutions on a notice of 24 hours.
