Behura seeks court’s permission to go abroad

New Delhi : Former telecom secretary and 2G scam accused Siddharth Behura Tuesday moved an application in a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) special court seeking to go aboard to visit his children.

Special CBI Judge O.P. Saini has asked the CBI to file a reply on it by May 31.

Behura has requested the court to allow him to go Hong Kong to visit his children. He also sought release some of his documents including driving licenes seized during the probe by CBI.

Behura is facing charges of breach of trust by a public servant and criminal conspiracyfor his alleged role in the 2G spectrum allocation case. He was granted bail May 9 this year after being arrested on Feb 2, 2011.

According to the government auditor, former telecom minister A. Raja was biased while distributing mobile airwaves and operating licences to telecom firms, causing a loss of up to Rs.1.76 lakh crore in lost revenues to the treasury.

A total of 19 individuals, including Raja, and six companies are accused in the two separate case.
