New Delhi : Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will inaugurate Wednesday a new office of income tax department at the tallest building in the national capital.
Spread over 12 acres, the new building, called “Pratyaksh Kar Bhawan”, will house the offices of salary charges, non-corporate charges, international taxation, exemption and other allied charges, accommodating nearly 800 officers and 1,500 staffs, the finance ministry said in a statement.
It is the tallest building in Delhi and the biggest office of the income tax department. It is centrally located and at walking distance from New Delhi Railway Station, the ministry said.
The new office is made up of one partitioned 28-storey Tower Block (E) and two six-storey Blocks (B and D) with three-level basement parking having escalators, service and passenger elevators and DG sets for 100 percent power back-up.
“Creation of this new state-of-the-art infrastructure shall improve working conditions in the department, boosting the morale of its employees and facilitate better maintenance of records,” the ministry said.
