Kashmiri students of Jamiatul Falah released in Jammu

By TCN Staff Reporter,

New Delhi: In a big relief to Jamiatul Falah and families of the boys, the two Kashmiri students of the seminary were handed over to their father in the wee hours on Thursday in Jammu. Around 4 am, the boys, their father in the protection of local police have left for their home in Sopore, Baramulla.

Succumbing to the pressure from the media, state government and Jamiatul Falah authorities, the UP ATS or whichever police agency who had picked the boys from Kaifiyat Express on 24th May morning at Aligarh Railway station, decided to release the boys. Mohammad Waseem Bhat and Sajjad Ahmed Bhat, cousins, had boarded the train in Azamgarh to see their ailing brother in Delhi.

Their family in Sopore got a call from local police station on Wednesday that the father of the boys has been called to Jammu by higher police officers. The Sopore police took the father and left for Jammu yesterday noon but they reached Jammu late in the evening.

Just before 4 am today, the boys were handed over to the father and the Sopore police left with them for Sopore.

Talking to TCN over phone, Maulana Tahir Madani, Director Jamiatul Falah gave the information. He said it is still not known which police — UP ATS or Delhi Special Cell — handed over the boys.

Sajjad’s sister has also confirmed the development. Talking to TCN over phone from Sopore an hour ago, she said “the brother have reached with my father to Sopore. They are right now in local police station, and will come home soon.”

In his first reaction to TCN, Maulana Madani said: “I thank Allah on the safe release of our boys. I thank all the people of civil society, media and human rights activists who made their all efforts in last six days to put pressure on the government, police and administration that they were forced to release the innocent boys.”

This has also shown that if people and media get active soon after such incident, release of innocents can be secured, he said.

Condemning the act of anti-terror police agencies, the Maulana said: “The incident has once again exposed the ugly face of anti-terror police agencies. It was only pressure that they were not able to digest the two boys and destroy their life.”
