Protest in Delhi against Israeli attack on Gaza

New Delhi: Over two hundred civil rights activists, students, and teachers from different universities and organisations, led by JNU students’ union marched towards the Israeli embassy in the capital shouting slogans ‘Down with Israel’ and ‘Stop Attack on Gaza.’

The protest started from one end of Aurangazeb Road to Israel embassy chanting pro-Palestine slogans.They tried to push through the police barricades against what many in the crowd termed as continuing ethnic cleansing.

More than hundred policemen were deployed to prevent the protesters to reach embassy gate.

The protest was supported by the Lok Jan Shakti Party and various other organizations, social activist and advocates.

Speaking at the protest JNU student union president Lenin Kumar condemned the attack on innocent civilians of Gaza by brutal Israeli forces.

Speaking at the protest Prof Kamal Mitra of JNU criticized Indian government for its defense deal with Israel. He added that India, under Nehru and Indira Gandhi had stood by Palestine but now Indian government do not dare say a word against Israel even when they are committing worst crime on civilians of Palestine.

Prof. Mitra also said that this ongoing attack by Israel carried out by current PM Netanyahu for the sole reason to win upcoming elections which is scheduled to be held in January.

Prof Nibedita Menon of JNU condemned the attack on Gaza and said that Israel is violating all International treaties and attacking civilians in Gaza.
Senior journalist Seema Mustafa also spoke on the occasion demanding immediate halt of Israeli attack on Gaza, she criticized Israel in harsh word for attacking civilians and journalist in Gaza.

Lok Jan Shakti Party youth secretary and a Supreme Court Lawyer Adil Hasan represented his party with score of followers; he expressed his solidarity with Gaza citizens.

In the latest round of clashes at least 85 Palestinians have died, 22 of whom were children.
