No acknowledgement from Pakistan over Kasab note

New Delhi : The Indian High Commission in Islamabad has so far not received any “acknowledgement” from Pakistan’s foreign ministry of a communication from New Delhi informing them that Ajmal Kasab was to be hanged, an official source said here Wednesday.

“India’s deputy high commissioner had met his Pakistani counterpart in the foreign office DG (South Asia) on Nov 20 to hand over a communication with a copy of the letter from authorities in Maharashtra, addressed to the next of kin of Kasab, informing about the completion of the legal process and the hanging of Kasab (the lone surviving 26/11 gunman) on Nov 21,” a source said.

“The official had refused to accept the communication, following which the same was faxed from the Indian High Commission to the official and a transmission report received,” the source said.

“As of now, the Indian High Commission has not received any ‘acknowledgement’ from Pakistan’s foreign ministry,” the source added.

Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone 26/11 terrorist caught alive, was hanged Wednesday morning in Pune’s Yerawada Jail.
