Jamia marches in solidarity with Palestinian people

New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia organized a protest march in solidarity with the Palestinian people on Friday in the afternoon. The protest was jointly organized by the Outreach Programme and India Arab Culture Centre of the university, and attended by the both the students and faculties, including Vice Chancellor, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Registrar, among others.

The solidarity march was attended by the Palestinian Ambassador to India, his Excellency Adli Shaban Hassan Sadeq, who condemned the Israeli attack on Gaza and appreciated the support that India has extended. He added, “This demonstration represents the spirit of the people of all India.” “People who are full of tolerance and peace,” he added. He also invoked the name of Mahtama Gandhi and thanked the host for their pledge of support.



Director of the India Arab Cultural Centre, Zikrur Rahman said that although a ceasefire has now been declared, innocent Palestinians were attacked and killed to help a particular party and leader in the oncoming Israeli elections. He also read out a resolution that condemned the attack on Gaza and demanded that India be included in the “Quartet and to make it a Quartet+ 1 team enabling India to play its natural role and proceed with its time-tested commitment to enduring peace in the region.”
