Court to hear arguments on charges against IM men

By IANS,

New Delhi : A Delhi court Friday fixed Oct 30 to commence hearing arguments on charges against 10 suspected operatives of the Indian Mujahideen (IM) terror group who were allegedly trying to revive the banned outfit.

The 10 IM operatives were part of an IM module trying to revive the outfit after the reverses it suffered following the 2008 Batala House shootout in south Delhi.

Police had filed the chargesheet May this year against the accused. Another supplementary chargesheet had been filed against 26/11 suspect Abu Jundal, alleging him to be a co-accused, who motivated the IM operatives.

“Their aim was to carry out bomb blasts and shootouts in India to avenge the atrocities being meted out to the Muslim community and spread the message of jihad,” the chargesheet stated.

The accused involved in the case are Mohammad Kafil, Gauhar Aziz, Gayur Ahmed, Mohammad Aftab Alam, Tariq Anjum Ahsan, Mohammad Irshad Khan, Asadullah Rehman, Mohammad Adil, Bashir Hasan and Abdul Rehman.

Police had also accused them in the Jama Masjid shootout ahead of commonwealth games 2012, in which two men on a motorcycle shot at a tourist bus. Two Taiwan nationals were injured in the attack.
