Jakarta : India’s Defence Minister A.K. Antony arrived here Monday on a three-day visit, during which he will hold bilateral meetings with his Indonesian counterpart Purnomo Yusgiantoro.
During the visit, Antony and Yusgiantoro will discuss bilateral cooperation in the defence sector and ways to enhance them, said a statement from the Indian Embassy in Jakarta.
The three-day visit is part of the first biennial dialogue at the level of defence ministers. Antony is accompanied by a 10-member delegation.
The dialogue was agreed to during a state visit to India by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in January 2011.
The “Report of the 3rd Joint Defence Cooperation Committee” will also be presented during the meeting.
The report will outline the possible areas of cooperation in the defence sector, particularly in the fields of education and training, operation and exercises, peacekeeping and counter-terrorism operations.
