More companies trying social recruiting: Survey

By IANS,

Chennai : Majority of organisations today use social networking sites to identify and hire candidates, says a survey by a job portal.

TimesJob.com said it surveyed 1,000 organisations and 700 of them conveyed they used social networking sites to hire young people.

According to the survey, 49 percent of surveyed employers said social recruiting would help them reach inaccessible and passive candidates.

“Nearly 18 percent of the employers opined that employing social networking tools will help them source and hire potential tech-savvy candidates. Faster filling up of key positions, thereby reducing recruitment time, is also considered an important benefit of social recruiting, as agreed by 16 percent of the surveyed employers,” a company statement said.

But a major limitation to social recruiting, according to 77 percent of the employers, was difficulty in verifying candidate’s credentials, it said.

The remaining 23 percent considered ethical and legal issues such as discrimination claims to be limiting factors, it said.
