Islamabad : The Lahore High Court has ordered the authorities to impose a ban on smoking in public places in the city, a media report said Monday.
Chief Justice Umer Ata Bandyal was hearing a petition on the implementation of an anti-smoking law. He ordered strict action against Shisha (smoking) cafes in the city.
District coordination officer Noorul Amin told the court that besides one’s house, every other place falls under the definition of public place.
The court directed the official to take action against Shisha cafes, believed to have become a hub for drug users, Geo TV reported.
