Islamabad : Pakistan’s Supreme Court will resume hearing on the memo controversy involving President Asif Ali Zardari Nov 12, a media report said Tuesday.
The row emerged after US businessman Mansoor Ijaz claimed in a newspaper article that the Pakistani government had sought help from the US to avert a likely military coup.
He wrote in the Financial Times that President Zardari in a letter had asked for help from then chairman of the joint chiefs of staff Admiral Mike Mullen of the US in the event of a military cope in Pakistan.
Relations between the government and the military had dipped to a new low after US special forces killed Osama bin Laden in a secret raid on his hideout in Abbottabad last year.
Then Pakistani ambassador to the US Husain Haqqani was said to have drafted the letter.
A nine-judge bench will resume hearing of the case Nov 12, Geo News reported.
