JD-U and BJP question Reddy’s exit as petroleum minister

By IANS,

New Delhi : Joining ally Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in its attack on the recent cabinet reshuffle, Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader Sharad Yadav Tuesday questioned the exit of Jaipal Reddy as petroleum minister.

Talking to reporters in the national capital, Yadav said: “An honest minister like Jaipal Reddy has been punished for protecting national interest.”

He said the JD-U would question the government in parliament over Reddy’s removal.

“We don’t want a clarification in one or two words. Not just one or two MPs but the whole house will be standing against you (Congress),” he said, adding that government was “kicking away” those who were doing good work.

Reddy’s exit from petroleum ministry was also questioned Monday by both the BJP and India Against Corruption activist Arvind Kejriwal.

Reddy has been given the science and technology portfolio, while M. Veerappa Moily has been given the petroleum ministry.
